Tehran, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has congratulated the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature and the commemoration of the well-known Iranian poet Shahriar.
In a post on his X account on Friday, marking the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature and the commemoration of poet Shahriar, Baqaei said the Persian language and literature are a treasure of human culture and a bridge that for centuries have brought distant souls closer and tied nations together.
He added that the day is an occasion to reflect on this heritage, noting that Shahriar embraced the Persian language as his home and used poetry to express what mattered to people.
On September 18, Iran celebrates National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature in memory of the highly respected contemporary Persian poet, Mohammad-Hossein Behjat Tabrizi, known as Shahriar. Shahriar’s work was distinguished by its political, social, and cultural insights, making him a significant figure in Iranian poetry and literature.
