Berea, Oct. 22 — As part of the practical skills and learning journey, Pulane R.C Primary has rolled out the school-led entrepreneurship project for pupils whereby they are selling to the general public some of the products they have produced from their projects.
This was revealed by Pulane R.C Primary School Principal, Mrs. Moliehi Setente during an interview with the Agency on Thursday.
Ms. Setente said the project which is pioneered by the grade 7 pupils forms part of their learning curriculum that they started while still at the lower grades under Arts and Entrepreneurial Projects.
She highlighted that the grade 7 pupils are currently selling canned peaches which they picked from the school orchard, highlighting that the project has taught and given the pupils an opportunity to put into practice what they have learnt in class.
She added that by building on such experience and entrepreneurial skills acquired at school, they are preparing them for the real world beyond primary school level.
She also indicated that with skills gained during the project, they are promoting self-reliance among pupils and to help them understand their strengths as they pursue different careers in life.
Ms. Setente further said the project has equipped them with fundamental skills on how to establish businesses and their management, communication skills, accounting and financial records keeping.
She reaffirmed that with the money collected whereby each canned bottle goes for M30.00 such pupils are going to meet some of their basic needs.
Pulane R.C primary is situated along the foothills of the remotest part of Berea district and it currently has 34 pupils who are writing their grade 7 examinations.
