The President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, took part, on Tuesday in Kinshasa, in the presentation of the new works of the National Pedagogical University (UPN), carried out as part of the fourth and final phase of the modernization of this higher education institution launched in 2001.
These are three equipped buildings, two of which have been rehabilitated and upgraded, while the third was newly built. It comprises 14 audiences with 91 seats each, a meeting room, an elevator for persons with disabilities, sanitary facilities, storage areas and a recreational park.
The other two buildings are dedicated respectively to administration, with 54 offices, and to science, with seven laboratories, including two chemistry, two biology and two physics, as well as a dark room. Both also have sanitary facilities and facilities that facilitate access to people with reduced mobility.
” These books add to those already operational on our campus. Step by step, they allow the UPU to modernize itself sustainably and assert itself among the flagship institutions of our country,” said the rector of UPU, Professor Yvone Ibebeke.
In recognition of the achievements made at UPU, the student coordinator presented a trophy on behalf of all his comrades to the Head of State. “You have just sown and raised the hope of a better, powerful, emerging and dignified Congo,” he told the President of the Republic.
The Minister of Higher Education, University, Scientific Research and Innovations, Marie-Thérèse Sombo, said that this work was carried out within the framework of an extensive presidential programme for the construction and renovation of university infrastructure, implemented by the Government.
“These projects, spread throughout the country, reflect the desire of the Head of State to build a coherent, modern and inclusive national university network. They demonstrate her conviction that education is a major lever for social, economic and citizen transformation,” she said.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the six commitments of the President of the Republic, particularly those relating to improving access to basic social services and the modernization of public services.read more
